Sirius - Brightest star in the night sky


When observed from Earth, Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. Locating Sirius is not very difficult as it outshines every other star in the sky. However there is one technique which can help us confirm that the star is indeed Sirius.

In my previous post, I had written about Orion - The hunter. The 3 stars at the center of Orion's quadrilateral form Orion's belt. If we start tracing an imaginary line from Orion's belt as shown above, it'll lead us to Sirius.

Sirius is also called Dog Star and it is part of a different constellation called Canis Major.
